Vertically “slice” and horizontally “dice” the platform
VOSS provides management across an entire UC&C platform, giving central visibility across all customers (for the service provider) or across all business units or countries and locations (for the large enterprise). In doing so, VOSS allows administrators to slice the platform into separate, vertical views (i.e. customers or business units/agencies). Each slice can be further dissected into smaller vertical units, such as a set of different geographies or states. VOSS offers 8 levels of vertical slices, or virtual hierarchy.
At the same time, within each vertical, the platform can be “diced” horizontally to allow a range of administration access rights. This restricts the ability of an administrator to access and modify certain administration features. VOSS supports 5 levels of standard access rights management for enterprise administrators and 8 levels for a service provider – many more than any other management system.
Other management systems often only provide 2 levels of management (central administrator and location administrator)
VOSS allows administrators to be created at the following default levels:
- Sub-location level administrator – able to administer a sub-group of users
- Location level administrator – able to manage all users within a single location
- Business unit administrator – able to manage locations within an agency or business unit
- Customer administrator – able to manage all agencies (or business units)
- End user – able to access a self-care portal, just for their own individual services
The VOSS platform allows each of the standard horizontal administration access levels to be customized for each vertical slice.
For example, trainee location administrators could be given “read-only” access until they have completed all the necessary formal training. This could be provided to all customers, or just one customer. Each customer could be given their own unique set of administration rights that best suits their business.
End users, within each customer or business unit, can have their rights restricted to just basic read-only access of a sub-set of features, or full access; again on a fully customized basis per vertical slice.
Branding can easily be customized for each administrator and end user, so that each customer or agency has its completely unique look and feel.
