VOSS

Technology / Advanced UC&C Service Management

VOSS Differentiation

At the most simple level, VOSS provides a greater breadth and depth of management. That is to say, we not only cover more services, but we manage them to a much deeper level, allowing us to provide the full flow-through automation.

VOSS is an advanced UC service delivery and management platform with the following capabilities:

Supporting the full range of advanced UC applications
These applications include UM, IM, collaboration, presence, mobility, etc. We are adding to this range of services all the time and because VOSS specializes in this area, we ensure that our capabilities are up-to-date with the latest applications and features.

Understanding basic telephony
There is no point in managing a new UC&C application, such as presence, if you cannot enable fundamental call routing features, such as “click to call”, that direct the call to not just the PSTN, but also to internal-only phones within the organization. If you want to set up a voicemail service, then the ‘message waiting’ indicator light has to have a trunk set up between the PBX and the messaging system.

Mapping the entire physical network
This includes all the redundancy built into the network, the different technologies and versions of each technology, and understands the relationship between the network and the business unit/location/user and their services. This means that the complexity of the network can be separated from the delivery of services, plus the integration requirements for launching a new service.

Providing the ability to package services into bundled offerings
Essentially, this provides product suites to organizations and especially service providers. This allows each customer or user group to customize their own services, classes of service, features and physical hardware, against a set of agreed business rules.

Capturing event-based information
An example is when a user’s service is upgraded or downgraded, and is able to report on this event in either real time (to say a billing system), or in the form of a periodic report.

Specifically designed to support multi-vendor UC&C applications
In multi-vendor environments, the level of service configuration and maintenance of data consistency across vendors requires an exponential increase in activity for management tools like VOSS and is almost impossible to manage through manual configuration if you want full inter-working.

Standardization of the delivery and management of UC&C
With VOSS this is possible across complex, large-scale, multi-cluster IP architectures, without reducing the richness of the features on offer. But standardization should not come at the expense of service flexibility, which has often been the experience in the past with other management solutions. VOSS does not limit the flexibility because it holds the triangle of ‘service-to-user-to-infrastructure’ data on a location by location basis. This means users within each location, let alone for each customer or business unit can have a completely different set of services from another location. This capability sets VOSS ahead of other service management systems.
