VOSS- is an automated Unified Communications Service Delivery and Management Platform, designed specifically to address the challenges involved in deploying and  managing  ‘Managed’ IP Telephony and Unified Communications solutions.

The critical differentiator for Vision its ability to integrate the delivery and management of UC applications with the automation of network infrastructure configuration.  The following diagram shows this integration between Element Management and UC Service Delivery:

Unified communications applications require configuration of multiple network elements, not just the application server.   Adding a new service to a User requires feature and settings configuration to be made on the application server, the central directory, the IP-PBX, the routing engine (Transit switch), the gateways, etc.

VOSS Unified Services Manager solution enables service providers and large enterprises to automate their:

Automated Unified Communications Service Delivery

VOSS- provides a service delivery platform for the delivery of unified communications applications (traditional voice, unified messaging, presence, mobility, video conferencing, collaboration tools, etc).

Delivering new unified communications applications to large companies is not like provisioning access to most IT applications.  UC applications, such as Unified Messaging, requires configuration settings in the Voice Mail server, the active directory, the Xchange server and the IP-PBX.  When launching these services, the underlying network elements must be integrated before services can be launched.

Applications such as Mobility and Presence are more complex, especially in a multi-vendor environment and will normally require systems integration.

VOSS- pre-integrates the delivery and management of UC applications, removing the complexity for the Provider and Enterprise.

Automated Network Configuration

VOSS- provides automated configuration of multiple network elements such as softswitches, IP-PBXs, gateways, gatekeepers, routers, LAN switches and UC application servers (e.g. voicemail, attendant console, conferencing, video, presence, collaberation, etc).

VOSS- also maps the overall network architecture, ensuring that changes in configuration for one network element is automatically upgraded across all other linked elements.  This is achieved by USM automating the integrated dial plans.

What would otherwise require an engineer to manually re-program across multiple network elements, USM updates in milli-seconds.

Automated Dial Plan Configuration

VOSS- manages the dial plan configuration for IP Telephony systems.  This includes the ability to manage pre-tested dial plan templates.

Changes to dial plans can be added easily and faster by simply uploading a new template and USM manages the configuration of the dial plan within multiple network elements.

Automated Device Provisioning

VOSS- automates the critical business flow and device configuration processes required to successfully deploy and operate an IP Telephony system.  This includes both IP and analogue devices, such as IP and analogue phones, soft-phones, video phones, ATAs, etc.

VOSS- provides a unique auto-discovery option for IP devices, such that phones can be instantly provisioned and registered with pre-determined numbers and settings when they are connected to the network.

Automated Service Activation

VOSS- provides rapid service activation for UC service bundles, on a customer, by customer, basis.

Each Customer or department wants to add, delete and customise their service offering.  They also typically want to distinguish service features and quality between employees and managers.

VOSS- provides advanced product and service customisation and management tools.

Secure, Devolved Administration

VOSS- provisioning system allows end users to participate in the administration of their own devices and services:

  • Web-browser GUI management interfaces, including support for end-user self-subscription to value-added products and services, which enables SPs to convert features into chargeable products.
  • Secure, devolved administration of selected provisioning functions to enterprise customers and their end users, across single or multiple Cisco Unified CallManager clusters.
Customers can perform their own moves, adds and changes via the VOSS- GUI, giving them more control and immediacy of service

Resource Inventory Management

VOSS- manages the resource inventory for IP Telephony and UC platforms across 8 hierarchical levels.

Administrators at the various levels are able to control their own  telephony resources, such as:
  • E164 Numbers
  • Lines
  • Phones
  • Analogue Devices
  • Media Resources
  • UC Services and Features
This enables Customers to manage their various sites centrally in terms of inventory.  It also allows a Service Provider to manage multiple customers on a managed platform.

Network Virtualisation

VOSS- allows Network Elements, such as the IP-PBX, to be virtualised.  This allows a Service Provider to operate multiple tenants on a single distributed IP-PBX Cluster, with each tenant operating independent of the others.

Service and Application servers can similarly be virtiualised by USM to allow, for example, a single Voicemail server to be accessed by multiple tenants.

Each tenant can customise their platform and services independent of the other tenants using USM to control the underlying partition configuration.
